On September 27th at 9:00 a.m. 54 runners took to the starting line to begin the inaugural 5K for A4IA. Runners included many members of the SDSU Athletic Training Education Program and special guests, Tommy Mallon, Co-founder, A4IA, Scott Sailor, President, National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), and Carolyn Peters, Director, NATA District 8. When asked about his experience Tommy Mallon said, “The race was really fun and the people were great. It was nice to connect with the SDSU athletic training club and meet NATA President Scott Sailor.”

“We are grateful for the support of the SDSU athletic trainers and we will continue to push for athletic trainers to get the recognition they deserve in California and the country!” says Tommy Mallon. The race was won by Tyler Voas, second year SDSU athletic training student. In the end, the event ultimately raised $1650 for Advocates for Injured Athletes and celebrated the positive impact of Athletic Trainers

Sarah Grimm and the Future Athletic Training Society (FATS) are already looking forward to next year and helping the event grow. They are proud to be involved with such a great organization that supports athletic trainers
