A4IA Quick Facts

Our Mission:

To promote sports safety and to provide essential support, education, and resources to help keep athletes safe.

Our Goal:

To reduce the number of student athlete fatalities and injuries.

The Facts:

Trauma injuries leave athletes and their families in a state of shock and chaos. Every year, 3 to 5 million injuries occur on student athletic fields in competition, practice, and recreation. This translates into approximately 8,000 children treated in emergency rooms each DAY for sports-related injuries. In addition to ER visits, student sports-related injuries lead to approximately 500,000 doctor visits and 30,000 hospitalizations each year. Many of these injuries can be prevented.

Our Strategy:

We want to help bring a certified athletic trainer to every high school campus in America. As we continue our work to help achieve that goal, our foundations team of certified athletic trainers are teaching student athletes to recognize and understand the possible signs and symptoms sports related injuries. We are raising awareness about the profession of athletic training and helping student athletes to be more aware of their own health and the health of their teammates.
